Identify the codes and conventions of dance music videos and websites and the opportunities for subverting the genre conventions.

Analyse the connotations created by choice of media language in music videos and websites.
Investigate any intertextuality in the existing products and how media language incorporates viewpoints and ideologies relating to dance music.
Research Music Videos and Websites used by Dance music artists. Post findings to blog.

Research into existing media products: Media Representation

Analyse issues of stereotyping, misrepresentation and under-representation in dance genre music videos and websites.

Identify how history of the genre has created a hybrid of genre.
Identify how history of the genre has led to intertextual references from dance culture in more current products on the market.
Research Genre/History to identify the hybrid elements of the genre and the intertextual references in both music videos and websites. Post findings to blog.
21st May
Planning: Statement of Intent

State how your production aims to construct representations and use codes and conventions.

Analyse narrative, performance or abstract elements of the dance music genre in music videos.
State how the production will be branded across the two media platforms to appeal to the target audience.
Write first draft Statement of Intent

Artist Design and name planning - construction of brand concept.
4th June
Planning: Target Audiences

Identify the style of media address that is commonly used for the target audience, outlining what may serve to alienate or patronise the target audience, and what may make them feel included or flattered.

Explain how the target audience may expect to interact with the media and be actively involved in media production.
State how the production aims to address and actively involve the target audience. 
Continue to write Statement of Intent.

Planning: Media Industries

Explain how the production will fir into the relevant regulatory framework.

Explain how the production will fit into the branding and ethos of the producers.
Explain how the cross-media productions will maximise the impact of digitally convergent media platforms.
